Aiguardent by Marta Carrasco Marta Carrasco, a celebrated Catalan contemporary dance-theatre artist, is bringing her award-winning performance Aiguardent to the Count Me In! Conference. Aiguardent, a production by Pep Bou Productions Centre Cultural de Sant Cugat, was created by Marta Carrasco's and was her first solo performance. It is a journey into human solitude, ruled by anger and innocence. It shows the double life of a lonely woman on the edge of the abyss, who finds refuge in alcohol for her anxieties. Aiguardent has won the Max Award in 2003 for 'Best Dance Performer' and for 'Best Choreography'.[Top] http://martacarrasco.com/
Fat, Feminist and Free by Pramada Menon In Fat, Feminist and Free, Pramada Menon riffs on everything from the immigration officers who obsess about her gender identity to the perils of perfect strangers offering advice on losing weight, getting married or ending discrimination against women. She takes on sexuality, body image, identity confusion and takes a tongue-in-cheek look at our horrible and and hilarious world. Pramada is a queer feminist activist. She has worked on sexuality, sexual rights, gender, violence against women, organisational development change, and issues of livelihood for more than two decades.[Top]
Harmony - Earth Music from the Muses by Sahodari Foundation's Liberation Performing Arts Troupe The one of a kind spellbounding opening music with African flutes, Chinese bowls, Indian drums and chimes by nine transsexual women from the Sahodari Foundation's Liberation Performing Arts Troupe. It is a unique music troupe of under-privileged transgender women. The project provides them with the opportunity to learn not only Tamil folk music and dance, but also to play ancient and aboriginal musical instruments from South America, Europe, Africa and other parts of the world. Sahodari's training creates world-class artists, allowing the troupe to then tour in various places. Sahodari is a movement, a family, and a team of young transsexual people.[Top] http://liberationarts.blogspot.com/

Nirvanam by Pritham Chakravarthy This is a personal journey to tackle one's own and another's sexuality. It began with inviting a variety of transgender individuals into a home, talking with them, and learning about their lives. Many remarkable human beings like Noori and Aasha Bharathi involved themselves by becoming a part of the family, cooking meals and sharing recipes, and telling stories to the children. In 2000, this developed into its own story, as true and honest it can be. No sympathy, no politics, but a story of their self, their journey, and their imancipation. The play was performed to many groups of Aravanis. They always have different stories to add, to alter, to share, and create. Nirvanam is a family play. Actually, it is not anymore just a play, it is an ongoing process. Nirvanam is written and performed by Pritham K Chakravarthy. She is an independent researcher, playwright, director, performer, film critic and activist from Chennai.[Top] http://prithamkchakravarthy.blogspot.com/
Heidi Latsky Dance presents The GIMP Project Choreographer Heidi Latsky presents a roster of performers who embody unique physical virtuosity. Outstanding technique, raw beauty and the physical poetry of risk-taking, propel the artists and the audience into the collective unknown. GIMP examines the uncompromising ways we are often identified or defined by our physicality; an elegant landscape of portraits, illuminating limbs to accentuate uncommon beauty, mystery and grace; the ways in which our bodies support and rebel. www.heidilatskydance.net or http://www.thegimpproject.com
